Ryan Kean

Ryan Kean is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Biological and Biomedical Sciences at Glasgow Caledonian University, where he conducts active research on fungal and bacterial biofilms, particularly focusing on Candida auris and C. albicans. He is accepting PhD students and is a key contributor to biofilm research in clinical and environmental contexts.

His research interests lie at the intersection of medical microbiology and public health, with a strong emphasis on biofilm formation, antimicrobial resistance, infection control, and novel therapeutic strategies such as phage therapy and drug repurposing. He is a member of ESCMID and chairs the Glasgow Biofilm Research Network, demonstrating leadership in building collaborative research infrastructure. His work has been recognized through citations and engagement in social and academic networks.
