Ruth Pidsley is a Group Leader at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research and Conjoint Lecturer at St Vincent's Clinical School, UNSW Sydney. Her research focuses on epigenetic mechanisms in prostate cancer, particularly leveraging DNA methylation biomarkers to improve diagnostic and prognostic outcomes. She leads the DNA Methylation Biomarkers group, aiming to translate epigenetic insights into clinical applications.
Education: PhD in Molecular Genetics (King's College London, 2013), MSc in Molecular Genetics (King's College London, 2009), BA in Human Sciences (University of Oxford, 2006).
Research interests include epigenetics, prostate cancer biomarkers, and tumor microenvironment dynamics. Her work combines advanced genomic techniques with clinical applications to refine cancer treatment strategies.
Grants include NHMRC funding for studying the tumor microenvironment (2022–2027) and Cancer Council NSW support for epigenetic-based prostate cancer therapies (2018–2020). She has secured over $1.8M in research funding.
Awards include the Cancer Institute NSW Early Career Fellowship (2015) and recognition for her PhD research at King's College London (2012–2013).
Supervision spans PhD, MSc, Honours, and undergraduate students, with focus on epigenetics and biomarker development. She contributes to academic committees at Garvan and NSW ASMR.
