Dr. Ruth Panofsky is a Professor of English at Toronto Metropolitan University, affiliated with the Yeates School of Graduate Studies. She contributes to MA programs in Literatures of Modernity, Immigration and Settlement Studies, and the Communication and Culture interdisciplinary program. Her research focuses on Canadian publishing history, authorship studies, textual scholarship, Canadian Jewish literature, and Holocaust literature.
Education: PhD from York University. She has held visiting positions at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Florida Atlantic University (Jewish Studies), Philipps-Universität Marburg (Creative Writing), and Massey College. Her editorial roles include Advisory Editor for Book History, Advisory Board member for Authorship, and editor of Parchment: Contemporary Canadian Jewish Writing.
Research highlights include pioneering studies of Canadian Jewish authors like Adele Wiseman, with a focus on textual editing and cultural mapping. Her recent work integrates digital humanities methods. Over 30 years of grants include SSHRC, Canada Council for the Arts, and Ontario Arts Council support.
