Dr Ruth Morse is an Associate Professor in Biomedical Sciences (Human Genetics) at the University of the West of England (UWE), Bristol. She has been at UWE since 2002, initially as a Senior Lecturer and promoted to Associate Professor in August 2023. She leads teaching in Human/Medical Genetics, genetic toxicology, and oncology across undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including MSc, MRes, MSci, and doctoral levels. She previously led the Doctorate in Biomedical Sciences for a decade and now champions gender equality as the School of Applied Science's Athena SWAN lead.

Her research focuses on genetic toxicology of stem cell transplantation and long-term complications of chemotherapy. She develops 3D physiological models of bone marrow for toxicology assessment, collaborating with AstraZeneca, GlaxoSmithKline, Public Health England, Swansea University, and Cardiff University. Recent work examines chemotherapy-induced bystander effects and genomic instability mechanisms.

Dr Morse has supervised 15 full-time and 5 part-time doctoral students, graduating many during the COVID-19 pandemic. She currently mentors two full-time and one part-time PhD candidates. Her research group actively seeks new students with aligned interests and external funding.
