Dr. Adam Thomas is a Senior Lecturer in Human Genetics and Genomics at the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol), affiliated with the Faculty of Health and Applied Sciences (HAS). His research focuses on DNA damage and repair mechanisms, apoptosis regulation, and genotoxicity assessment in contexts like leukaemia and cancer therapy. Collaborations include Dr. Ruth Morse, Dr. Geraint Parfitt, and Professor Bernd Kaina.
Teaching responsibilities span Medical Genetics, Molecular Genetics, and Genomic Technologies. Recent publications (2020-2023) explore molecular hydrogen therapies in oncology, cytokine storm genotoxicity, and miRNA roles in DNA damage response. His work bridges basic genetic research with translational applications in therapeutics and agricultural biotechnology.
Key research contributions include studies on O6-methylguanine DNA adduct thresholds, nanoparticle toxicity using 3D skin models, and estragole-induced hepatocarcinogenesis. His articles highlight interdisciplinary approaches to genetic toxicology and innovative treatment modalities.
