Ruth Lyons

Ruth Lyons, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Education at Thomas College. She holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Connecticut, with a focus on Gifted Education and Talent Development, alongside a Master of Science in Education from Fordham University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photographic Illustration from the Rochester Institute of Technology. Her career spans over 20 years in public and private education, including roles as a classroom teacher, school principal, district director of Gifted Education Services, and university supervisor for student teachers. She was a founding director of the Renzulli Academy in Hartford, CT, and currently leads gifted education programs in RSU 22, Maine.

Dr. Lyons’ research interests center on gifted education, leadership in educational institutions, curriculum design, and fostering equity and inclusion. She has contributed extensively to professional development initiatives and curricular frameworks, emphasizing creativity, student potential, and innovative pedagogical approaches. Her work has been published in journals like Teaching for High Potential and WeAreTeachers, focusing on topics such as leadership development, micro-evaluations, and strategies for nurturing gifted students.

She has presented at numerous conferences, advocating for evidence-based practices in gifted education and leadership.
