Catherine Little is a Professor in Educational Psychology at the University of Connecticut (UConn), serving as Associate Director of the Renzulli Center for Creativity, Gifted Education, and Talent Development. She specializes in curriculum development for advanced learners, gifted education, and educational equity. Her academic background includes a Ph.D. in Educational Policy from William & Mary (2001), an M.A.Ed. in Gifted Education (1997), and a B.A. in Elementary Education/History (1994).
Dr. Little’s research focuses on optimizing educational practices for high-ability students, including differentiated instruction, summer learning programs, and barriers to equity in gifted education. Her work emphasizes curriculum design, teacher training, and leadership development for underserved populations. Recent projects include the Javits-funded initiatives Project Focus (2023–2028), Project LIFT (2017–2022), and Project SPARK (2014–2019).
Her publications highlight strategies to enhance academic readiness, peer tutoring for gifted learners, and the impact of enrichment programs. Notable works include Content-Based Curriculum for Advanced Learners (2023) and studies on academic acceleration attitudes among educators. She has received awards such as the 2020 Distinguished Service Award from the National Association for Gifted Children and the 2018 Honors Advising Award from UConn.
Dr. Little is actively involved in professional organizations, serving as President-Elect of the National Association for Gifted Children (2023–2025). She contributes to UConn committees like the Honors Board and University Scholar Committee, advocating for excellence in education and mentoring programs.
