Ruth Hatcher is an Associate Professor in Forensic Psychology at the University of Leicester, affiliated with the School of Psychology and Vision Sciences. She holds HCPC registration and BPS chartered status in Forensic Psychology. Her qualifications include a BA in Psychology from the University of Sheffield, an MSc in Forensic Psychology from the University of Kent, and a PhD from the University of Liverpool (supervised by Prof. James McGuire), which focused on attrition in probation-based cognitive skills programs.
Her research spans criminological psychology, prison systems, and offender rehabilitation. Key areas include evaluating interventions for incarcerated or probation-supervised individuals, analyzing prison technology impacts, assessing outcomes for forensic mental health patients, and examining prison populations' health needs. She co-leads the Prisons Research Network, fostering interdisciplinary research collaborations.
