Rune Bennike is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Political Science, University of Southern Denmark, affiliated with the Center for Rural Research (CLF). His work focuses on rural development, tourism, and political economy in South Asia, particularly Nepal and India. He explores themes such as social exclusion, decarbonization, and post-disaster reconstruction through interdisciplinary methodologies.
- Current Projects: Frontlines of Transition (decarbonization in Europe) and Aftershock (post-disaster tourism in Nepal).
- Research Themes: Nepal studies, rural aspirations, frontier tourism, and environmental justice.
His recent publications analyze interdisciplinary pedagogy, sustainable harvesting of high-value environmental products, and the socio-political impacts of tourism in the Himalayas. He contributes to public discourse on green transitions and inequality. Bennike is actively involved in research networks and has presented work on Himalayan political geography and agrarian transformations.
