Rumman Chowdhury

Rumman Chowdhury is a globally recognized leader in applied algorithmic ethics and responsible AI. She holds roles as a Research Affiliate at the Minderoo Center for Democracy and Technology at the University of Cambridge, a visiting researcher at NYU Tandon School of Engineering, and a Responsible AI Fellow at Harvard University’s Berkman Klein Center. Previously, she led Twitter’s META team, founded Parity (an enterprise AI audit platform), and served as Global Lead for Responsible AI at Accenture. Her work focuses on ethical AI systems, bias mitigation, and policy frameworks.

Dr. Chowdhury holds dual undergraduate degrees from MIT, a master’s from Columbia University, and a PhD in political science from UC San Diego. She is a vocal advocate for inclusive STEM participation, serving on boards such as AI4All and UNESCO’s Broadband Commission. Her contributions have been recognized through awards like the BBC 100 Women and Bay Area’s 40 Under 40. She advises global institutions including the UN, OECD, and UK Parliament on AI governance and ethics.

Rumman co-founded the Parity Responsible Innovation Fund and mentors startups through the Creative Destruction Lab. Her policy work spans global AI ethics standards, and she frequently publishes in Harvard Business Review, MIT Technology Review, and other outlets. She remains dedicated to advancing transparent, equitable AI systems through research, policy, and venture capital.
