Ruchika Sharma

Ruchika Sharma, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in bleeding and clotting disorders in children, women’s hematology, and platelet disorders. She joined UT Southwestern in 2022 after serving as hematology faculty at Versiti Wisconsin and Children’s Wisconsin in Milwaukee.

• Fellowship: Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and Hemostasis-Thrombosis at The Ohio State University and Nationwide Children’s Hospital

Research interests focus on platelet immunology, pediatric thrombosis, and blood disorders. She co-chairs the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis’s Subcommittee on Platelet Immunology. She is active in professional organizations such as the Foundation for Women & Girls with Blood Disorders and the American Society of Hematology. Dr. Sharma has contributed to the American Academy of Pediatrics Textbook of Pediatric Care and authored peer-reviewed publications.

Her clinical expertise includes managing diverse pediatric blood disorders, with a focus on immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) and thrombotic disorders. She advocates for gender-specific approaches in hematology, particularly for women and girls.
