Ruben Nicolas is a postdoctoral researcher at the Faculty of Law, Economics and Governance of Utrecht University, focusing on Sustainable Public Procurement within the Department of Economics. He investigates how public sector procurement can drive supplier sustainability, social value creation, and innovation through policy frameworks and funding mechanisms.
His work has been supported by the Ministries of Defence, BZK/DGOO, J&V, Municipalities of Amsterdam and The Hague, the Tax Authority, EU (Demotrans), and the IKEA Foundation. He co-teaches the Master course Public Procurement with Fredo Schotanus.
