Dr. Ruben Burga is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Management at the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics, University of Guelph. He serves as the Graduate Program Coordinator for the MSc Management (Innovation, Commercialization, and Entrepreneurship) and holds the title of University Teaching Leadership Fellow in Interdisciplinary and Experiential Teaching & Learning. With a multidisciplinary background as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) and Fellow of Engineers Canada (FEC), his career spans executive management roles in high-tech manufacturing and international business development.
His research focuses on sustainability integration in business practices, agile project management, and experiential learning methodologies. Key projects include:
- Using UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to enhance ESG frameworks in organizations
- Developing COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) platforms for global classroom collaboration
- Evaluating the impact of field-based learning on student career trajectories
Dr. Burga has authored over 20 peer-reviewed publications and two open-access textbooks. His teaching portfolio includes courses on project management, corporate social responsibility, and entrepreneurship.
Recognition includes the 2024 North American PRME Award and 2019 Paul MacPherson Teaching Award. He actively contributes to professional communities through roles like Enactus Faculty Advisor and Board Chair of Frog in Hand dance company.
