Karen Gordon, PhD, P.Eng., is a Professor and Associate Dean (Academic) at the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics, University of Guelph. She holds expertise in Biomechanics and Soft Tissue Mechanics, with research focusing on medical imaging, wearable devices, and engineering education. Her academic roles include advising on curriculum development and overseeing academic programs at the Lang School.
Her research spans biomechanics of wrist and joint kinematics, with applications in orthopedics and ergonomics. She has developed novel 3D-printed wearable sensors for monitoring joint motion, emphasizing low-cost and accessible medical technologies. Her work also explores STEM education, particularly problem-solving pedagogy and the role of memorization in engineering courses.
Dr. Gordon teaches courses in Biosystems Engineering, Mechanics, Biomaterials, and Engineering Design. She is affiliated with the University's Biological and Biomedical Engineering programs.
