Rosylnn Powell, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Parks and Recreation Management Program at Western Carolina University's College of Education and Allied Professions. Her work emphasizes equity, social justice, and critical thinking in leisure studies. She teaches courses such as Diversity and Inclusion in PRM, International Adventure Tourism, Program Planning, and Management of PRM Services.
Education: Ph.D., North Carolina State University; M.S., University of Wisconsin Stevens Point; B.S., Frostburg State University.
Research focuses on qualitative methodologies to explore marginalized voices in leisure spaces, including Black cultural connections to the outdoors, heritage tourism, and the intersection of leisure with social media. Her scholarship aims to transform societal perceptions of leisure’s societal impact.
