Ross Sherlock is a Professor and Chair in Exploration Targeting at Laurentian University's Harquail School of Earth Sciences (HES), serving as Director of the Mineral Exploration Research Centre (MERC). With over 28 years of experience, he bridges mining industry expertise and academic research, previously holding roles such as Vice President, Geoscience at Kinross Gold Corp. and Exploration Manager at Gold Fields.
Education: Post-Doctoral Fellowship at UBC’s Mineral Deposits Research Unit (UBC), PhD (University of Waterloo), MSc (Lakehead University), BSc (McMaster University). Professional affiliations include membership in Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC and APGO.
Research focuses on structural and stratigraphic controls of mineral systems, emphasizing practical exploration solutions funded by industry partners. Supervises graduate students on the Metal Earth project. Leads initiatives like MERC, integrating academic and industrial collaboration.
