Michael Tedeschi is a Research Fellow at the Harquail School of Earth Sciences, focusing on the South American Exploration Initiative (SAXI). His research centers on orogenic gold deposits, particularly in the Guiana Shield, examining lithostratigraphic, structural, and hydrothermal controls on mineralization. He holds a BSc in Earth Science and History from Syracuse University (USA), an MSc in Geology from the Colorado School of Mines (USA), and a PhD in Geology from the University of Western Australia (Australia).
Research Interests: Tedeschi’s work integrates structural geology, geochronology, and geochemistry to understand mineralization processes in orogenic gold systems. He investigates deformation, magmatism, and hydrothermal alteration patterns, with a focus on the Karouni Deposit in Guyana and Precambrian tectonic settings like the Abitibi Belt.
Research Activities: He contributes to field-based studies and modular courses on Precambrian geology and structural tectonics. His involvement with the MERC Research Activities underscores his engagement in applied mineral exploration research.
