Ross Carroll is an academic specializing in political theory and history of political thought. He currently serves as an Assistant Professor at the School of Law and Government, Dublin City University (DCU), focusing on themes such as the politics of humor, Edmund Burke's philosophy, and abolitionist movements. Prior to joining DCU in 2023, he taught at the College of William and Mary (2021–2023) and the University of Exeter (2013–2021). He holds a BA in Politics and Philosophy from University College Dublin (2003), an MSc in International Relations from the London School of Economics (2004), and a PhD in Political Science from Northwestern University (2013). He was a Fulbright scholar (2005–2006) and Assistant Editor of Political Theory: An International Journal of Political Philosophy (2009–2012).
