Ross Abbs is a Lecturer at the Sydney Law School, University of Sydney, appointed in 2012. He holds a BA LLB from the University of Newcastle (UoN) and a Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL) from the University of Oxford. His research focuses on criminal law and procedure, sentencing, torts, and the High Court of Australia's role in criminal justice. He is currently pursuing a PhD on this topic. Ross has contributed to climate change liability research, class action proceedings, and environmental law through publications and conferences.
Education: BA LLB (UoN), BCL (Oxford). Prior roles include work as an associate to Justice Michael Kirby (High Court of Australia) and at the Victorian Law Reform Commission.
Research interests emphasize criminal justice systems, sentencing policies, and tort law applications in environmental and climate contexts. His publications span climate liability, investor class actions, and property law. He teaches Torts and Criminal Law.
