Dr. Rosie Gallagher is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at The University of Queensland Business School. Her research focuses on institutional disruption, disaster recovery governance, and community resilience, particularly in the context of extreme weather events. She holds a PhD in Strategic Management from The University of Queensland.
Her work examines how communities respond to institutional failures during crises like the 2019–2020 Australian bushfires and 2022 Northern Rivers floods. She developed a process model of improvised place custodianship, highlighting how local resources and attachments to place enable communities to navigate governance breakdowns. Rosie has taught management, strategy, and marketing courses at UQ since 2018 and is currently evaluating large-scale disaster recovery programs.
Committed to bridging research and practice, her research ethos emphasizes care and engaged scholarship to foster equitable, locally informed disaster recovery efforts. She is not currently available for supervision.
