Roshell Muir

Roshell Muir, PhD, is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Family, Community & Preventive Medicine at Drexel University College of Medicine and Director of the Office of Urban Health Equity, Education and Research (UHEER). She holds dual affiliations in the Division of Infectious Diseases and HIV Medicine and the Department of Pharmacology and Physiology. Her work bridges biomedical research (focusing on germinal center immunology and viral diseases) with health equity advocacy addressing disparities in science and medicine.

Research Interests: Dr. Muir’s research spans two core areas: 1) Immune cell biology in HIV and viral infections, particularly targeting germinal center Tfh-B cell interactions and vaccine design, and 2) Health equity initiatives addressing gender/racial disparities in healthcare access and academic representation. Her lab employs advanced flow cytometry and FACS techniques.

Publications & Impact: Over 20 peer-reviewed articles in high-impact journals like Cell, Journal of Clinical Investigation, and PLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases. Recent work highlights include identifying barriers to diverse participation in clinical trials and uncovering mechanisms of HIV immune evasion.
