Roseanna Neupauer is a Professor in the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Architectural Engineering at the University of Colorado. She holds a B.S. from Carnegie Mellon University (1989), a B.A. from the University of Colorado (2018), an M.S. from MIT (1991), and an M.S./Ph.D. from New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology (1999-2000). Her research focuses on groundwater flow and transport modeling, stream depletion analysis, cold regions hydrology, and innovative remediation techniques like active spreading. She is a Professional Engineer (PE) and has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Margaret S. Peterson Award (2022), Fellowships from the Environmental and Water Resources Institute (2022) and Geological Society of America (2010), and the Walter L. Huber Research Prize (2006).
Her teaching includes courses such as CVEN 3323 Hydraulic Engineering and CVEN 5353 Groundwater Hydrology. Notable research contributions include advancements in adjoint methods for contaminant source identification and hydraulic remediation strategies. She has published extensively on topics like reversible dispersion in porous media and the impact of thermal stress on frost quakes. Her work bridges theoretical hydrology with practical environmental engineering solutions.
Dr. Neupauer’s honors also include multiple teaching awards, reflecting her dedication to education. Her lab focuses on groundwater systems, with applications to both environmental protection and sustainable resource management.
