Professor Rose Gann is Head of Academic Scholarship at Nottingham Trent University's School of Social Sciences and Chair of the Political Studies Association of the UK. She holds a PhD in Political Theory from Swansea University and has progressed through academic ranks since joining NTU in 2004, becoming Professor of Politics Education in 2024. Her leadership roles include heading multiple departments: Politics and Sociology (2004-2012), Politics and International Relations (2012-2020), and Social and Political Sciences (2020-2023).
Gann's research focuses on three interconnected domains: Scholarship and pedagogy in higher education, particularly developing recognition frameworks for teaching-focused academics; Politics curriculum development and disciplinary identity; and Feminist theory in decolonization contexts. She founded NTU's Trent Institute of Learning and Teaching network to build community among teaching-focused professors.
Her publications demonstrate consistent focus on higher education pedagogy, curriculum internationalization, and political education reform. Recent work (2023-2025) emphasizes scholarly recognition frameworks and decolonization, while earlier research established foundations in curriculum design and student engagement. The 2015-2019 publications frequently address practical implementation of internationalization strategies.
