Dr. Rose Ryan serves as Director of Access at Maynooth University, leading strategic initiatives to enhance access to higher education. She oversees the Maynooth University Access Programme (MAP), fostering partnerships with schools and communities to promote equity. Her work focuses on policy development for underrepresented groups, including marginalized learners and those with disabilities.
Dr. Ryan holds a PhD in Education from Maynooth University, exploring intersections of disability and social class in Irish higher education. She has pioneered national programs like Turn to Teaching and College Connect, aiming to diversify teacher education and support access for asylum seekers, Travellers, and individuals with criminal convictions. She also chairs the Further Education to Higher Education (FET2HE) network, enhancing academic pathways for further education students.
Her current priorities include expanding access for prison-experienced individuals through the Mountjoy Prison Campus partnership and advancing system-level reforms via the HEA’s Programme for Access to Higher Education.
