Rosalind Cavaghan is a Visiting Professor and Emma Goldman Fellow (Flax Foundation) at the Politics and International Relations department. She previously held roles as a research fellow at Glasgow Caledonian University and a Marie Curie Intra European Fellow at Radboud University Nijmegen. Her research focuses on intersectional hierarchies in Europe, particularly analyzing EU responses to climate breakdown through ecofeminist frameworks and examining the interplay between human, natural, and economic systems. She co-leads the Doing Gender Sensitive Research project under GENDER.ED, collaborating with the Edinburgh Earth Initiative to enhance understanding of gender impacts in STEMM fields. Rosalind also consults for organizations like USAID, the European Institute for Gender Equality, and the Scottish Government, and serves on the Policy and Advocacy board of the Scottish Women's Budget Group.
Her work bridges academia and activism, emphasizing gender budgeting, feminist political economy, and the gendered consequences of climate policy. Key publications include analyses of the European Semester’s epistemological flaws and intersectional challenges in gender activism. Recognized for her early career contributions, Rosalind’s research has earned prestigious awards and shaped policy dialogues on sustainable development and social justice.
Rosalind teaches courses on EU politics, gender policy, and research methodologies across multiple universities. Her projects often explore how marginalized groups are affected by economic and environmental policies, advocating for equitable and intersectional approaches in both research and practice.
