She has led major research projects, including the ESRC-funded 'Surveying Women in Greater Manchester' (2022–2023) and the Horizon Europe-funded UNTWIST project (2023–present), which address gender equality policies and voter behavior.
Her scholarly contributions span articles in Journal of European Public Policy and British Journal of Political Science, focusing on gender vote gaps, generational shifts, and electoral dynamics. She has received the John Peterson Prize (2020) for her work on political behavior. Shorrocks actively engages in media commentary on gender and politics and teaches courses on comparative politics, gender studies, and research methods.
