Rosa Woolf Ainley is a text-based artist and researcher at the Royal College of Art (RCA), affiliated with both the School of Communication and School of Architecture. She holds a PhD in Architecture (2016) and specializes in experimental writing to explore architectural spaces and community narratives. Her work bridges academic research and artistic practice, focusing on issues of place, voice, and regeneration.
- Completed AHRC-funded PhD: 'Writing Alexandra Palace: Plurivocity as a method of cultural recovery' (RCA, 2016).
- Co-Director of Rendezvous Projects, a Community-Interest Company focused on participatory social histories.
Research interests include:
- Translations between text/image using AI/AR.
- Public space design and adaptive reuse of urban environments.
- Amplifying marginalized voices in neighborhood redevelopment.
Recent projects include:
- "Ledbury Estate: Haunting tales of fire and precarity" (2022–), exploring community narratives through collaborative workshops.
- "AR ‘scapes: Voices from the concrete barges" (2021–), using AR to document local heritage.
Awards include the Royal Society for Public Health Commendation for Leysdown Rose-tinted (2011). She serves on the board of Architecture & Culture journal and has been funded by Arts Council England, AHRC, and others.
