Rosie Ram

Dr Rosie Ram is a Visiting Lecturer in Curating Contemporary Art and Academic Leader of the Curating Contemporary Art and Design summer school at the Royal College of Art (RCA). Her research focuses on modern and contemporary visual culture, with a specialization in curatorial practices and the methodologies of post-war British artists like Nigel Henderson. She holds a PhD from the RCA, funded by the AHRC, titled Image as Method: Nigel Henderson and the Art of Research, which reinterprets Henderson’s work through the lens of avant-garde research practices.

Education: PhD (RCA, 2021), MA Culture, Criticism & Curation (Distinction, Central Saint Martins, 2013). She has curated major exhibitions including Vital Fragments: Nigel Henderson and the Art of Collage (Tate Britain, 2019–20), and co-convened conferences such as Cutting Edge: Collage in Britain, 1945 to Now (2021). Her writing appears in Art History and Burlington Magazine.

Research interests center on the intersection of art, collaboration, and institutional critique. Her work challenges traditional museological frameworks, emphasizing ephemeral and processual aspects of artistic research. Awards include the RCA’s 2021 Knowledge Exchange Champion Award for her innovative summer school program.

Exhibitions and projects highlight her engagement with historical art networks and curatorial innovation. She has held roles at Chisenhale Gallery and taught at institutions including Tate, ICA, and Chelsea College of Arts. Collaborative projects, such as the AHRC-funded research with Yale Center for British Art (2018), underscore her commitment to interdisciplinary scholarship.
