Ros Darracott is an Associate Professor in Social Work and Human Services at the University of Southern Queensland's School of Psychology and Wellbeing. With thirty years of experience in regional, rural, and remote social work practice, her research focuses on eco-social justice, decolonizing practices, and contextually responsive community-embedded social work.
Research interests center on promoting cultural safety, eco-social justice frameworks, and developing sustainable approaches to social work practice. Current projects include developing heat response strategies for vulnerable populations and studying lived experiences during extreme weather events.
Articles demonstrate strong emphasis on sustainable social work practice, field education innovations, and contextual practice challenges. Recent publications explore eco-social work pedagogy and the experiences of newly qualified social workers in healthcare settings.
Professor Darracott leads the Toowoomba Eco-Social Work Group and is developing cross-institutional collaborations for eco-social work field education and research.
