Dr Rory McInnes-Gibbons is a Post Doctoral Research Associate in the Department of Classics and Ancient History at Durham University. His research focuses on classical reception, particularly the evolving relationship with antiquity, with a specialization in Palmyra in Roman Syria. He co-coordinates the 'Classics and Class in the North-East' project, aiming to enhance access to classical heritage in the region, leveraging Hadrian’s Wall as a focal point.
Education: BA and MA in Classics and related fields at Durham University. His doctoral research examined Palmyra’s afterlife in the long 18th century, analyzing its visual and cultural impact.
