Dr. Rory Ewins is a Lecturer in Digital Education at the Moray House School of Education and Sport, University of Edinburgh, affiliated with the Institute for Education, Community & Society (IECS). He holds a background in political science and computer science, with international experience across Australia, New Zealand, and the UK. His previous roles include Research Fellow in ICT Policy at SCROLLA and IT Policy Advisor to the Australian Vice Chancellors’ Committee.
Teaching focuses on masters-level courses such as Digital Education Strategy and Policy, and he supervises masters and PhD students. Research interests span IT’s socio-political impact, digital divides, online identity, and e-learning in developing nations. Current projects include evaluating blended learning in masters courses and exploring digital native conceptualizations.
Key professional contributions include reports on global e-learning initiatives, virtual world pedagogy in Second Life, and policy frameworks for student mobility. He has developed websites for multiple University of Edinburgh research groups, including Digital Cultures and Education.
