Ronald William Henry is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at Michigan State University's College of Natural Science. He is affiliated with the Genetics & Genome Sciences Program and Cell & Molecular Biology Program, focusing on transcriptional regulation mechanisms.
- Education: Ph.D. from University of Alberta (1992)
- Prior Appointment: Postdoctoral Fellow at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (1992-98)
His research centers on human small nuclear (sn) RNA gene transcription as a model system for understanding RNA polymerase II/III mechanisms and their role in cellular homeostasis. Key areas include:
- SNAPc complex multi-protein interactions
- RNA polymerase choice and promoter architecture
- Transcriptional regulation in cancer and viral infections
- Retinoblastoma protein family's role in gene repression
- Ubiquitin-proteasome system effects on RB proteins
- Imidazoline-based proteasome modulators in disease treatment
Lab members work on:
- snRNA gene transcription dynamics
- DNA methyltransferase regulation of polymerase III
- RBf2 protein target diversity
