Professor Ronald Brand is the Academic Director of the Center for International Legal Education (CILE) and holds the Chancellor Mark A. Nordenberg University Professor title at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. He is a leading expert in international business transactions, private international law, and transnational litigation, with a career spanning decades of global teaching, scholarship, and treaty negotiation.
- Education: Juris Doctor (JD) from Cornell University, Bachelor of Arts (BA) from the University of Nebraska.
His research focuses on harmonizing global legal standards for commercial disputes, particularly through the Hague Judgments Convention and the CISG. His work bridges International Business, Transnational Litigation, and Technology Law, emphasizing dispute resolution and jurisdictional frameworks.
Recent publications include articles on parallel proceedings, provisional measures in arbitration, and sovereignty in international law. These contributions highlight his expertise in Arbitration, Jurisdiction, and Hague Conventions.
