Ronald A. Brand

Ronald A. Brand is the Chancellor Mark A. Nordenberg University Professor and Academic Director of the Center for International Legal Education (CILE) at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. He serves as founding Director of Pitt Law's LL.M. Program for Foreign Law Graduates and SJD program, and has represented the United States at the Hague Conference on Private International Law.

His research encompasses the development of international conventions, comparative analysis of jurisdictional rules, and the evolution of arbitration and litigation procedures in transnational contexts. He has extensively studied the Hague Conventions on Choice of Court Agreements and Judgment Recognition, contributing significantly to their development and implementation.

Leadership Roles: As founding Director of CILE, Professor Brand has established Pitt Law as a global leader in international legal education, creating innovative programs that provide students with practical experience in international law through moot court competitions, study abroad opportunities, and direct engagement with international legal institutions.
