Ron Woo is an educator with over 50 years of experience in public school and higher education, specializing in educational policy, law, second language acquisition, and teacher preparation. He holds an MA from New York University and a JD from Brooklyn Law School. Currently, he serves as an adjunct professor at Fordham University, New York University (NYU), Baruch College, and Bank Street College of Education, where he has taught courses on education policy, law, leadership, and the DASA workshop since 2003.
Ron has held senior roles in the NYC Department of Education, including Superintendent for School Improvement and Special Assistant in the Office of the General Counsel. He directed New York City’s first urban teacher residency program at Hunter College and oversaw alternative teacher certification programs. He is the executive of the Statewide Language RBERN at NYU, supporting districts in programs for English language learners and world language students.
His professional presentations span national (AERA, NABE) and state (NYSAFLT, NYSABE) conferences. His work focuses on bridging policy, legal frameworks, and practical educational leadership to improve equitable access and student success.
