Roland Krippner

Roland Krippner is a Professor at the Nuremberg Technical University Georg Simon Ohm, Faculty of Architecture, holding a Research Professorship for 'Technology of the Building Envelope' since summer semester 2022. Previously, he has held a Professorship for 'Construction and Technology' since winter semester 2008/2009. His academic career includes being a Research Associate/Assistant at the Technical University of Munich from 1995 to 2007 under Prof. Thomas Herzog and Prof. Fritz Frenkler.

His research focuses on material experiments with lightweight wood concrete and biopolymers, facade technology including integration of solar energy systems, decentralized ventilation technology, and building greening. He also specializes in the history of architecture and construction technology, particularly regarding solar houses. His work bridges traditional building techniques with modern sustainable technologies, with special attention to integrating renewable energy systems into historic buildings.

Krippner's publication record demonstrates a consistent focus on building envelope technologies, with his most recent works exploring photovoltaic integration in urban historic contexts and advanced facade construction techniques.
