Dr. Rohini Bannerjee is an Associate Professor in the Department of Modern Languages & Classics at Saint Mary’s University, affiliated with the Asian Studies and Women and Gender Studies programs. Her research focuses on Francophone literatures and cultures of the Indian Ocean, with an emphasis on interdisciplinary approaches to diaspora and migration studies.
- Education: B.Sc. in Biology and French, Dalhousie University; M.A. in French Literature, Dalhousie University; Ph.D. in French Studies, Western University (2006).
Before joining Saint Mary’s in 2006, she taught French at elementary, high school, and postsecondary levels, including positions at Fanshawe College and Western University. Her work includes the current interdisciplinary project Haligonian Histories: South-Asian Immigrant Women making Halifax home.
- Scientific Awards: 2012 Saint Mary’s University Student Association Award for Overall Excellence in Education.
