Roger Nippard is an Adjunct Professor at Royal Roads University, contributing to the Master of Administration and Leadership Training program. With a career spanning educational leadership in Newfoundland and Labrador and Alberta, he served as Superintendent/CEO of Foundations for the Future Charter Academy until April 2024. Previously, he held leadership roles in Northern Lights School Division, including Superintendent/CEO from 2007-2014.
Dr. Nippard's academic credentials include:
- Conjoint Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education from Memorial University
- Master of Education (Educational Psychopedagogy) from the University of Ottawa
- PhD in Human Resource Development from Burapha University
His research centers on system education leadership, building leadership capacity, and global competence programming. Additional interests encompass physical literacy (including national norm-setting for 15-year-olds), generative dialogue, collaborative inquiry, growth supervision, evaluation, and early literacy development. He has presented findings at numerous national and international conferences, emphasizing practical applications in educational settings.
Dr. Nippard's recent publications investigate the administrative practices of system education leaders in implementing global competence programming, particularly within Alberta and culturally diverse school environments. His work underscores the critical role of leadership standards and strategic implementation in enhancing student outcomes in global competence.
He has held prominent leadership roles in professional organizations, serving as President of the Canadian Association of School System Administrators (CASSA), the College of Alberta School Superintendents (CASS), and the Association of Alberta Public Charter Schools. Additionally, he designed and delivered Leadership Academies for aspiring leaders and contributed to the College of Alberta School Superintendents' certification requirements.
