Roger Maioli is Associate Professor of English at the University of Florida, specializing in 18th-century British and French literature. His research examines Enlightenment thought, novel theory, and historical connections between early modern literature and contemporary humanities debates. Maioli directs doctoral dissertations and undergraduate theses focused on long 18th-century literary studies.
Current book projects include The Enlightenment Crisis of Values exploring relativism's impact on modern values systems, alongside studies of fictionality theory and historical approaches to obscurity in literature. His teaching encompasses:

- Jane Austen studies
Maioli previously authored Empiricism and the Early Theory of the Novel examining fiction's truth claims during the scientific revolution. He maintains active international collaborations with institutions including Harvard, Yale, and the University of Edinburgh.
