Prof. Roger Kornberg is a Professor at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem's Department of Biological Chemistry. He is renowned for his research on the mechanism and regulation of RNA polymerase II transcription and the structural biology of macromolecules. His groundbreaking work earned him the Nobel Prize in Chemistry (2006) for elucidating the molecular basis of eukaryotic transcription.
Research Focus: Prof. Kornberg's studies include promoter chromatin remodeling, transcript synthesis with pure proteins, and the structural-functional interactions of transcriptional proteins. His contributions revealed the role of nucleosomes in genetic expression control and advanced understanding of eukaryotic genetic processes.
Honors: Nobel Laureate in Chemistry (2006). His work has fundamentally reshaped views on genetic expression mechanisms and the basic processes of life.
