Roger Ellis (they/he) is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Theatre at Northwestern University's School of Communication, serving as movement coordinator for the MFA Acting Program. A director working across screen and stage, Ellis creates experimental theatre and film projects exploring post-traumatic growth, identity, and digital realities.

Ellis' research examines the interplay between synthetic and somatic experiences through Black-queer perspectives, grounded in xenoqueer and xenofeminist theory. Their work integrates physical theatre, movement direction, and musical theatre with afrogoth aesthetics and Pan-African spirituality, focusing on identity exploration and post-traumatic narratives in digital contexts.
