Professor Roger Daly is a leading academic at Monash University, serving as Head of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and Co-Head of the Biomedicine Discovery Institute Cancer Program. His research focuses on cancer signaling networks, particularly in triple-negative breast cancer, pancreatic cancer, and gastric cancer, utilizing cutting-edge mass spectrometry-based proteomics and kinomics. He holds a PhD from the University of Liverpool and has held postdoctoral positions at the Imperial Cancer Research Fund and NYU Medical Centre.
Education: PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Liverpool (UK), followed by postdoctoral training at Imperial Cancer Research Fund (UK) and NYU Medical Centre (USA). Current roles include Program Lead at Monash Partners Comprehensive Cancer Consortium and leadership in cancer research initiatives.
Research interests include:
- Characterization of oncogenic signaling pathways
- Development of therapeutic targets and biomarkers
- Interrogation of tumor microenvironment interactions
- PEAK pseudokinase family function in cancer
Key projects include:
- Identification of ALK/MET targets in synovial sarcoma
- Phosphoproteomic subtyping of gastric cancer
- Development of drug combination strategies using computational models
Grants and collaborations involve NHMRC, Cancer Council Victoria, and international teams from institutions like Garvan Institute and UCSD. The lab actively trains PhD students like Miguel Cruz and maintains collaborations across cancer research domains.
