Roger Beebe is a Professor of Art and Professor of Theatre, Film, and Media Arts at The Ohio State University. His work spans experimental filmmaking and media studies, focusing on found imagery, late capitalism, and cultural critique. He has screened globally at venues like Sundance, MoMA, and Anthology Film Archives, with residencies at Headlands Center for the Arts and MacDowell Colony.
Education: PhD from Duke University, BA from Amherst College.
Research interests include experimental film techniques, cinematic preservation, and the intersection of art with technology. His recent works like Countdown Composition 1 (2023) and Last Light Redux (2022) explore material decay and ecological themes.
Notable awards include the Paul Robeson Award and recognition at Black Maria and Hi Mom! Film Festivals. He co-founded FLEX, Florida’s experimental film festival, and previously directed Flicker in Chapel Hill.
Grants and residencies include support from Headlands and MacDowell. Advises on film programs and collaborates internationally, with installations blending film and performance art.
