Jules Rosskam

Jules Rosskam is an internationally acclaimed filmmaker, educator, and Professor at Sarah Lawrence College since 2021, with a future appointment starting in 2025. He holds a BA from Bennington College and an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Research & Filmmaking Interests: Rosskam’s work centers on hybrid documentary filmmaking, exploring trans narratives, queer identities, and intimate storytelling through innovative visual and narrative structures. His films challenge traditional documentary forms by blending personal and collective histories.

Residencies & Screenings: He has received residencies at Yaddo, ISSUE Project Room, and ACRE. His films have premiered at prestigious venues including Sundance, MoMA, and BFI Flare, and screened globally at institutions like Anthology Film Archives, Schwules Museum Berlin, and the Chicago International Film Festival.
