Roco Córdova

Roco Córdova is a Lecturer at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM) in the Bridge to Arts and Music Program under the Pre-College Division. They hold academic degrees in Composition: a B.Mus. from Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music and an MMA from Mills College.

• Current roles include Music Instructor (since 2022) and Program Manager for BAM-SFCM (since 2024).
• Previously taught at Mills College and conducted workshops at California College of the Arts and University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Roco Córdova’s research and artistic practice integrate electronic media, improvisation, and extended vocal techniques such as throat singing, overtone singing, and vocal percussion. Their pedagogical approach emphasizes holistic music education, blending classical, jazz, popular music with dance, movement, and exploratory methodologies.

As an educator, Córdova has a decade of experience in diverse settings, including freelance teaching and institutional roles. They are also active in ensembles like Batey Tambó (2024–present) and Art Ensemble of Chicago (2018–2020).
