Rocío De la Fuente Gonzalez is a Research Fellow at Monash University's Neuromedicines Discovery Centre (NDC). She holds a PhD in Molecular Pharmacology from Universidad de Santiago de Compostela (Spain), preceded by a Master's in Developmental Biology and Genetics from Universitat de Barcelona and a Bachelor's in Cell Biology and Genetics from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Her research focuses on GPCR-based drug discovery, particularly investigating molecular mechanisms of orphan GPCRs linked to Parkinson’s disease, schizophrenia, and metabolic disorders.
Key research interests include GPCR signaling pathways, orphan receptor characterization, and translational drug discovery approaches. Her work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health and well-being. She has co-led a major 2025 project: 'Discovery of Novel GPR17 Modulators for Multiple Sclerosis' as an Associate Investigator.
Recent publications (2014-2023) demonstrate expertise in GPCR structural biology, receptor signaling, and drug development methodologies. Research collaborations span institutions in Australia, Spain, and other international partners. While no specific awards are listed, her work has been cited in patents and widely read on platforms like Mendeley.
