Dr. Robin Mello is a Professor of Theatre and Theatre Teaching Fellow at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM), with affiliations at the Lubar Entrepreneurship Center. Her work bridges theatre, education, and interdisciplinary innovation. She founded UWM’s K–12 Theatre Education Program and collaborates internationally with institutions like Exeter University’s Innoplay Laboratory.

Research Focus: Mello’s work centers on human-centered teaching practices, communicating science/history through performance, and STE(A)M integration. Projects include ORPHAN TRAIN (devised theatre on historical child migration), Star Stories—Communicating the Universe (astronomy collaboration with Dr. Jean Creighton), and Tale of Scale (community storytelling).
Grants & Collaborations: Supported by NASA’s Wisconsin Space Science Consortium, the National Women’s Hall of Fame, and the Wisconsin Humanities Council. Her grants include Carnegie Foundation’s Teachers for a New Era Fellowship and funding from the US State Department.
Labs & Teams: Active with Exeter University’s Innoplay Laboratory developing wellness-focused educational workshops. Co-leads Sharing Wisconsin the Sky, an Indigenous astronomy initiative.
