Vanessa Weber is a Lecturer in the Music Department at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM), specializing in Voice Education. She holds a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from UWM and a Bachelor of Arts in Music Theatre from Carthage College, where she graduated with honors.
Education:
- BA in Music, emphasis in Music Theatre, Carthage College (2005-2009), graduated with honors
- MM in Vocal Performance, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee
Research & Performance Interests: Focused on vocal pedagogy, music theatre performance, and stage choreography. Her work combines academic instruction with practical performance experience, emphasizing the intersection of vocal technique and theatrical storytelling. She has performed leading roles in productions such as Aida, Blood Brothers, and Hello Dolly, showcasing expertise in both classical and contemporary music theatre.
Awards & Honors:
- First Place, National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Competition (2007)
- ACTF Nomination for Outstanding Performance (Children of Eden, 2008)
Teaching & Community Engagement: Developed music theatre voice and dance curricula at the Kenosha Academy of Dance, Music & Drama and Racine Theatre Guild. Served as an actress, music director, and choreographer for Canterbury Summer Theatre and multiple community theatres, including Forte Theatre, Circle Theatre, and Racine Theatre Guild. Her roles often involve collaborative leadership in music direction and staging.
Labs/Teams: Active in Milwaukee’s theatre community through affiliations with Soulstice Theatre, Lakeside Players, and Greendale Community Theatre, where she contributes to productions as a performer and creative collaborator.
