Robin Feuer Miller is the Edytha Macy Gross Professor of Humanities and Professor of Russian and Comparative Literature at Brandeis University. She specializes in 19th-century Russian and European literature, with particular focus on the novel, short story, and literature of childhood. Her affiliations include the Comparative Humanities Program, Comparative Literature and Culture, and European Cultural Studies. Miller earned her PhD, MPhil, and MA from Columbia University, and a BA from Swarthmore College.
Her research explores themes such as the evolution of the novel form in Russia and Europe, the narrative techniques of Tolstoy and Dostoevsky, and the cultural significance of children's literature. She has held prestigious fellowships including the Guggenheim Fellowship (2013–2014) and has contributed to academic leadership roles in organizations like the International Dostoevsky Society (2000–2017).
Key publications include The Brothers Karamazov: Worlds of the Novel (2008), Dostoevsky's Unfinished Journey (2007), and Tolstoy and the Genesis of War and Peace (1996/2008). Her teaching spans courses on Russian literature, comparative studies, and children's literature, including Chekhov and the Art of Storytelling and Children's Literature and Constructions of Childhood.
