Professor Robin Daly is a Chair in Exercise and Ageing at Deakin University's School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences, leading the Musculoskeletal Health and Mobility Research Group. He holds a PhD from RMIT University and has held significant roles, including NHMRC fellowships and Director of Research at the University of Melbourne. His research focuses on exercise, nutrition, and digital health interventions to prevent chronic diseases like osteoporosis, sarcopenia, diabetes, and cancer-related conditions. He has over 30 years of experience in clinical trials and translational research, emphasizing musculoskeletal health, vitamin D deficiency, and systemic inflammation.
He has been involved in national guidelines for exercise, sarcopenia, and osteoporosis prevention, and serves on advisory boards for organizations like Healthy Bones Australia. His awards include the 2014 Aspire Academy Early Career Researcher Award and the 2009 Lorin Prentice Memorial Award. He leads grants totaling over $4M, including projects on telehealth interventions, peanut butter supplementation, and sarcopenia management.
Professor Daly supervises 21 post-doctoral fellows and numerous PhD/Masters students. His lab explores digital health technologies for chronic disease management and has published over 470 articles. His work bridges research and clinical practice, aiming to improve elderly health outcomes globally.
